The provider picks the person up, walks in with them, waits through the appointment, remembers what was said and brings them home. You get a note afterwards. It is what lets a working son or daughter avoid taking half a day off for every follow-up.

Driver's licence and an insured car, or accompaniment by transit: both arrangements exist. Medical appointments repeat — dialysis, chemo, post-operative follow-ups — and make for predictable bookings entered in the calendar well ahead.

Eligible for the tax credit

This service qualifies for Revenu Québec's tax credit for home-support services for seniors — up to 35% of eligible expenses for anyone aged 70 or over. Your receipts are prepared as the year goes.
